Tooth root treatment

Rhone Dental Clinic Article Tooth Root Care Image01

Sometimes we have small dental discomforts that we don’t know about. Indeed, we think it’s something specific and we want to avoid a visit to our dentist. However, this attitude can cause a cavity, which is easy to treat at first, to turn into a serious lesion of the tooth that can even affect the nerve.
If this is the case, an endodontic procedure is required, which consists of removing the vascular-nervous bundle from inside the tooth.

Endodontics: what ? how ? when ?

Endodontics is a procedure that is used when a specialist discovers a severe cavity that can affect the nerve. In this technique, inflamed or even necrotic tissues inside the tooth are removed, which explains the pain we feel.

ENDODONTICS : TREATMENT OF THE ROOTS OF OUR TEETH

The indicator that warns us that there is a problem inside the tooth is pain, which manifests itself as sensitivity to cold or heat, pain when chewing or pain in general, whether constant or intermittent. When the dental pulp, the tissue formed by the nerve and vascular supply that occupies the crown and roots of the tooth, becomes inflamed as a result of decay, tooth wear or even acute trauma, it is necessary to resort to this treatment.
The purpose of this treatment is to clean the tissue inside the root canal, eliminating bacteria and filling the space with a biocompatible material. This process prevents the loss of the tooth, as well as the degradation of the surrounding bone and gum. It is therefore vitally important to put yourself in the hands of specialists. At Advanced Dentistry, there are specialists to carry out this delicate process.

ENDODONTIC TREATMENT: BEFORE AND AFTER

Once an endodontic specialist at Rhône Dental Clinic has determined the need for treatment, the goal of the treatment is to remove the microorganisms present in the root canal system of the tooth, endodontic-radiography.
The first thing to do is to expose the pulp chamber to access to the root tip. Then clean the canal with manual or electric files; it  will remove the contents of this cavity leaving it ready for filling. The final sealing of this canal is important to avoid new infections, as well as periodic clinical and radiographic controls of the treatment to guarantee its effectiveness.
Once the treatment is completed, which is practically painless thanks to the anesthetics currently available, some discomfort may occur when chewing in the following days due to the inflammation of the area, which can be easily alleviated with the appropriate analgesics.

An endodontically treated tooth does not need any special care, it does not need to be more fragile if it has been properly restored. It will require the same hygiene care and checks as the rest of the teeth, and will behave in the same way as any other tooth. Only in cases where the back teeth are affected can a specialist recommend protecting them with crowns or similar structures to improve their durability over the years.
However, it is important to prevent the appearance of these and other pathologies in advanced dentistry, we want to emphasize once again the importance of attending regular checkups to minimize the risk of cavities or other problems that can lead to more serious prognosis.

The priority is to save the natural dentition, thanks to a regular follow-up and preventive action to treat any situation as early as possible. The success of endodontic treatments rivals that of implants, but the characteristics of our own teeth in their best condition exceed all statistics in terms of preference. That’s why the doors of advanced dentistry are open to any consultation, and is available to patients the latest technology for these treatments, as well as qualified specialists who will advise and inform you of each step of the processure.

For last few years, the evolution of adhesion has made it possible to do less and less root canal treatment. If ever it is necessary to perform a root canal treatment, two major tools have appeared in this specialty: the 3D analysis of the tooth determining the number of canals, their length and their particularity.
The endodontic procedure must be performed under a microscope with an operating field that isolates the tooth.
